I need help. In Row 5, following the directions, I did not come up with 11 shells. Row 4 only has 48 stitches, so if I skip 2, make a shell, skip 1, dc and then skip 2 more, …please tell me what I am doing wrong.
    Thanks

sorry about that, I think I fixed it. I must of been going to fast, usually I recheck my work and I thought I did, but I can see how that pattern was not making sense.

I am still having trouble with row 5. After row 4 I had the 48 stitches. Then to me it seems I should skip one dc then in the next stitch I should do the shell (2dc, 1ch, 2dc) with a dc in the stitch after the shell. Then I should skip a stitch and repeat the directions I just wrote. With doing all that, I made 9 shells. Your last direction says to do 10 dcs. If I do that, I still have 10 dcs that are not worked into, I am not making it to the 48 stitch so I can slip stitch into the beginning chain. Is there something I am doing wrong?

  4. amray2007 says:

hmm, It wont be 10 shells with this new pattern I wrote, the old pattern was wrong. You will have 11 dc in the back of the bonnet that will be unworked, because that is the back of the head and the back of the head wont have any shells on it, (see the picture above) Then when you get to that part, its says work 11 dcs across, then you will start rows, by turning your work so you wont work on those 11 unworked dc anymore, you will just be working on the 9 shells by working on rows not rounds anymore. I would follow my new directions and that should help you. Hope this helps. I may make a video so you can see what I mean, but Im busy right now, so not sure when I could get it done.

I love the bonnet..I did something like this for my daughter years ago..I did a sweater with this pattern..Would you happen to know a sweater pattern for this. I can’t find and haven’t been able to find one to match this this pattern of the bonnet.

  6. Carolyn says:

Thank you for the beautiful and easy-to-follow bonnet pattern! You are a gifted and generous designer! I searched everywhere for a pretty newborn bonnet pattern and am so happy to have found yours. I look forward to exploring all of your patterns. Thanks again!

  7. Tracie Irminger says:

How would you size this up to a 2t?! Please help!! I LOVE them and now I need more in a bigger size!

  8. amray2007 says:

sorry I dont have a bigger size. All I can say is make the first part of the cirlcle with an increase until you think its big enough and then add the shells, but I only made this big enough for a baby and didnt try bigger sizes.

  9. Tracie Irminger says:

I tried that and idk what happened. I ended up with too many shells I guess because it’s floppy. I eye balled how big the back for the neck would have to be and just made shells up to that point but it didn’t curl at all it lays flat so when you shape it into a bonnet, it’s floppy. :(

  10. amray2007 says:

sorry to hear, I made this for a baby, so I dont know what else to do, have you look on free pattern sites for a bonnet or hat for a 2t, that may help.
