How to Crochet a Double Crochet Hat Video:

Instructions:

hook

white yarn yarn

For my 2 1/2 year old it fit nice and snug but in a comfortable way so if you want it a bit looser go up a hook size.

Two ways to start this Hat with a Magic Circle or Do Rnd 1:

Here is a Magic Circle with Double Crochet Video, then Continue on to Rnd 2: or Do Rnd 1: Instead of the Magic Circle:

rnd 1: ch 5- slip stitch to form a ring, ch 3 (counts as a Dc), 11 dc in the ring, join with sl st. on top of ch 3. -12 sts.
rnd 2. ch 2, dc in same st. as joining, 2dc in each st. around. join with sl st on top of chain 2. -24 sts.
rnd 3. ch 2 counts as the first stitch, *2dc in next st., dc in the next stitch, repeat from *around, join with sl st. -36 sts.
rnd 4. ch 2, dc in the next st., 2dc in the next sts., *dc in the next two stitches, 2dc in the next stitch, repeat from *around, join with sl st. -48 sts.
rnd 5. ch 2, dc in the next two stitches, 2dc in the next st., *dc in the next three stitches, 2dc in the next stitch, repeat from *around, join with sl st. -60 sts.
rnds 6- Ch 2, dc in each dc around, *Repeat around, sl st. -60 sts. Repeat this round until the hat reaches 6.5 inches from the top to bottom.
Last round: sl st, *work 5 hdc in the next dc, sl st in the next dc, *Repeat around. sl st
Ringlets:  I hook, chain 35, work a dc in the 3rd chain from the hook, dc in each chain across, Fasten off. Make 6
Take your Hook and wrap the Ringlet around the hook to create a Ringlet. Attach 3 Ringlets on each side of the hat. Wrap a ribbon around the 3 Ringlets on each side of the hat. You could use a yarn stiffener and spray with water and stiffener onto the ringlets to harden them.
