Crochet Flip Flop Cover

Crochet Flip Flop Cover

I made these Crochet Flip Flops with Some cute cheap flip flops and yarn! I bought the Flip Flops at Walmart for only 99 cents. I wanted to add a cute design to the sandal so I added a cute design around the strap!
If you tell others about my work, please only link back to my blog, but don’t copy my pattern to your site. Also you can sell anything you make from my patterns, but don’t sell the free pattern. Thank you!

Material:

H and F hook

Red Heart Love White yarn

Flip Flops, I wear a size 9. Bought these for on 99 cents.

Abbreviations:

ch=chain

sc=single crochet

hdc=half double crochet

Now if your foot is smaller, you can do less sc around the straps, or more if you have a larger size sandal. I would follow the pattern when it comes to how many hdc.

Row 1: Start with a H hook, Slip knot onto your hook, wrap it around the strap of the flip flop at the end of the flip flop, sc 40 sc up to the top center thong part of the flip flop and sc 40 sc back down the strap. Fasten off.

Row 2: Now with a F hook, Slip stitch with your white yarn, go up 16 stitches, sl st into the 16th sc, Chain 3 (counts as dc and chain 1), skip two sc, *hdc, chain 1, skip two sc, *Repeat up to the top, that should be 8 hdc, and they go down the other side of the strap for 8 hdc and chain 1, slip stitch in the next sc, Turn -16 hdc

Row 3: Sl st into the chain 1, Chain 3 (counts as dc and chain 1), *hdc in the next chain 1 space, chain 1, *Repeat that up and down both straps, chain 1, sl st in the next sc, Turn -16 hdc

Row 4: sl st in the chain 1, Chain 3 (counts as dc and chain 1), *hdc in the next chain 1 space, chain 1, *Repeat that up and down both straps, Chain 3, sl st in the next sc. Fasten off. Weave in the ends.

    I just don’t get it…How can I make 8 hdc in 20 sc after going up 16 stiches…if I go up 16 stitches and make a sl st then there aren’t enough stiches to make 8 hdc…what am I doing wrong?

    That makes perfect sense to me now…Thanks so much for answering me so promptly…Can’t wait to get started…

    Love this pattern but something is working for me. My hdc stand up instead of laying down like a normal flip flop strap. What am I doing wrong? Help please!

    Are you sl st at the end of each row? That should make it lay flat when you do that.

  5. Holly says:

    Yes. The part that was the worst about not laying flat was where the two straps are connected. I have played with it a little and discovered I can’t put the same number of stitches of hdc in every row. I also adjusted a little to the crocheted strap a little longer. If you have other suggestions, I would appreciate it.
