This crochet shell doily can be used for a coaster or you can make it bigger with a bigger hook.

Abbreviations:

sc=single crochet

dc=double crochet

sl st=slip stitch

ch=chain

beg=beginning

Materials:

Blue Thread yarn or whatever yarn you prefer

3,25 mm size hook

Start with a chain 6, slip stitch to form a ring.

Rnd 1. Ch 2 (counts as first dc), Work 15 dc in the ring, sl st on top of the dc -16 dc

Rnd 2. Ch 4 (counts as first dc and ch 2), dc in the same dc, *skip the next dc, Ch 1, (dc, ch 2, dc) in the next dc, ch 1, *Repeat around, sl st in beg ch 2, -8 total

Rnd 3. sl st into the previous chain 2 space, ch 2 (counts as first dc), dc, ch 3, 2 dc in the first ch 2 space, *skip the ch 1, ch 2, work 2 dc, ch 3, 2 dc in the next ch 2 space, *Repeat around, sl st  in beg stitch, -8 total

Rnd 4. sl st your way into the beginning previous ch 3 space, ch 2 (counts as first dc),  2 dc, ch 4, 3 dc, in the first previous ch 3 space, *skip the ch 2, ch 3, work 3 dc, ch 4, 3 dc in the next ch 3 space, *Repeat around st, sl st in beg. stitch – 8 total

Rnd 5. sl st your way into the beginning previous ch 4 space, ch 2 (counts as first dc), 3 dc, ch 5, 4 dc into the previous ch 4 space, *skip ch 3, ch 4, work 4 dc, ch 5, 4 dc, in the ch 4 space, *Repeat around, sl st in beg. stitch -8 total

Rnd 6. sl st your way into the ch 5 space, ch 2, work 11 dc into the previous ch 5 space, *ch 2, dc around the previous ch 4 space, ch 2, work 12 dc in the previous ch 5 space, *Repeat around, sl st in beg. stitch, 8  shells made in total.

Rnd 7. ch 2 (counts as first dc), dc in the same dc, dc in each dc across the previous shell, work 2 dc in the last dc in the shell, -14 dc, sc in the dc of the center, *work 2 dc in the next shell, dc in each dc across the shell, 2 dc in the last dc in the shell, sc in the dc of the center, *Repeat around, sl st in the ch 2, -14 dc  in each shell across.

Rnd 8.  Edging, *chain 3, sc in between dc of the shell,  sc in the beginning of the next dc of the next shell, *Repeat around, Fasten off.

    According to the picture there is another round after 7 yet I can’t find it any where.

    ok I reworked the pattern. I am just going to leave it the way the pattern is stated because it still works out, and this pattern was done a while ago, it will be too tough to figure out the last round that was left out and rework it. It still works out the way it is written. thanks

    I just created the doily and when I got to row 7, I also realized my doily did not look like the picture. Finally I scrolled down and saw the previous post from Vicki. Is there a way for you to put a note at the top of the pattern for future crocheters to see before they get all the way to the end and realize something is wrong?

    I fixed it so there is an edging and matches the picture, and I plan on making a video for this soon.
